Important Lessons

I learned an important lesson two days ago:

Always remember to take advantage of great opportunities that may arise.

There I stood (in cold sweats, panicking about having lost all my camera savvy), using my broadcast journalism skills to be the host of Studio News this week. For those of you who do not know, that is the broadcast product from Disney's Hollywood Studio...happenings at The Studios and WDW. I almost lost out on this opportunity because I couldn’t see the forest through the trees. I was so caught up in a project that I wanted to make sure I got done, that I almost forgot that broadcast was the thing I really enjoyed most. I’m so glad Jamie grabbed me out of my stress-zone and put my into my passion.

Just remember that you can almost always manage to squeeze it all in…it is important to enjoy it all, soak In the experience, and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.

Have a magical night :)

Week One: Success

Enjoyed my first week at my internship. Working in an office is really difference but my team is great, the projects are fun, and the days fly by! I have my own cubicle with a nameplate and an awesome "Welcome to the Team, Ashlie" poster on my wall. My cubicle is already filled with sticky notes, papers, and folders.

Let me tell you, I owe a LOT to my job at college with Boston University's Campus Information and Visitor Relations (RIP department). I learned serious organizational, office, and practical skills. I know how to write an intelligent email in about 2.5 seconds and organize an inbox as to not get overwhelmed. Even my last boss and my current leader have similar working/managerial styles.

My advice of the day? You NEVER know what skills are going to come in handy. What may seem like a meaningless, "I don't want to go," task may turn into a useful life experience.

Have a magical day! (Woot woot for Mon-Fri 8:30AM-5PM! with Saturdays and Sundays off!)

Where else in the world...

...can you dance to the Cha Cha slide and be applauded by guests in a hand print-filled court yard, get paid, and NOT get in trouble?

No where else but the Great Movie Ride :)

Three more days and possible a shift to show my mom my show...feels so weird.

My weekend with my boyfriend at Coronado Springs was AWESOME! We did Epcot on Saturday most of the day, explored the hotel a bit, and ate and ate and ate, LOL! I feel happy even though I miss him already. Hope he comes back to visit soon! (Will try to remember to post pictures later.)

Thank you for staying with us, and we wish you magical dreams.

Where are you? I can't even find you on my GPS.

Lightning McQueen: I'm in this little town called Radiator Springs. You know Route 66? It's still here!
Harv: Yeah, that's great, kid. Playtime is over, pal.

I HAVE MY CAR IN FLORIDA! So I thought it would only be appropriate to put the above cute quote from cars. Maybe my car will come to life and start talking and we will have adventures together and............yeah, just kidding :)

But in all sincerity...yay for being able to go places and do things on my own free will! Having it for only two days has proven its worth.

I do feel a bit like "Playtime is over, pal," just from a bit of nerves before my internship. I'm sure I will be fine, though. Just a bit of a reality check that my days of playing as a job are limited, haha.

Time for bed. Work 1:30-7:30. Hooray for six hour shifts (as it is double that both Thursday and Friday! YIKES!)!

Good night Disney fans :)

Enormous Update

I have been a slacker...which is sad because there are so many magical memories I have/make every day.

People to remember:

Poppy at parade (little Scottish girl whom I "adopted", played with, danced with, and skipped around with like a Disney commercial).

Little girl in Belle costume who, when I said "Happy Birthday Princess Belle," she stepped back a few steps, took her father's hand and says "And this is my Prince."

The numerous little kids who have asked me how I did the trick in Anubis (see Great Movie Ride explanations) or changed my voice (that one made me laugh).

Little girl (9ish?) and boy (5ish?) who CLEARLY are Disney fanatics in the making as they had the most brilliant/excited/engaged smiles during my show...reminded me of my brother and myself and how we feel about Disney...THAT is rare to find.

The families I have done "Magical Moments" for...such as "back-dooring" them through our "Celebrity Entrance" and helped them make their own celebrity hand prints with paint on keepsake passes.

The fun I've had with friends and our villainous characters. "What do I look like, an April Fool? I said get over here!" ~Mugsi on April Fool's Day. The gangster gender switcheroo. The giggles in Oz between Tour Guides.

There are SOOO many more I could detail, but I do forget sometimes.

I've had such an amazing time at The Great Movie Ride and it amazes me to think that I only have like 12 or less days there before I start my Professional Internship! Which, by the way, is going to be at the Animation Building backstage at Disney's Hollywood it will be the perfect type of change: different scenery, different tasks, same feeling :)

Then there are all the Disney/outside Disney memories and people I have met. That could go on and on and shall have to be a tale for another day. Ok...well I will mention for you Tower of Terror fanatics that I did ride the last ride of the night into the Twilight Zone sitting next to a his costume. It was pretty awesome...

Oh, and I'm moving to a new apartment. Let's just say my roommate situation has not been all. But regardless, I'm excited to make new friends. The upside/downside is that I will be living in a new complex, of which many buildings are designed specifically for Disney Professional Interns: Cumberland Park. There are also regular Florida residents who live there (and a few Great Movie Riders!). It is across International Drive from Patterson. However, I will now need to be signed in to the four Disney housing complexes as a guest and can no longer take Disney transportation. I find this to be unjust and am considering writing an email to someone. I have read mixed reviews about this place from current residents but considering a few things I know (including about how security is not as tight but that it is considerably less safe - friends and I were able to bypass being buzzed in and just followed a car in), I am a bit nervous/skeptical. We will see what it is like...

So that is all for now, and I hope you, my followers, still read this and will be happy to see an update.
For now,

Princess Ash

PS - I am officially a college graduate from Boston University with two degrees :) Yay!

PPS - Prince Charlie visits next mom visits the weekend after that to help me move! Hooray for visitors!

PPS - Last night for Wishes and Spectromagic until August 15th...I am working until 10:30 so I will not make it, which is sad. Oh well. Why is it going away? DO YOU LIVE UNDER A ROCK??? Summer Nightastic of course! You don't know what that is? Fine...I'll inform you. Click the image below.

VIP Tour Guide for the Day

Today I played VIP Tour Guide for my little brother's girlfriend and her family. They had NEVER been to Walt Disney World or any other form of Disney (not even the adults!). They had Park Hoppers and wanted to see Magic Kingdom...AND Epcot! WHOAH! I had my work cut out for me. I got them special buttons and stickers, maps, times guides, and other special surprises! So from the time they got there around 10:45AM until the time they left around 10:35PM...we order...

Magic Kingdom
Breakfast at the Main Street Bakery
Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It Parade
Pirates of the Caribbean
Splash Mountain
Ice Cream Stop
Big Thunder Mountain
Haunted Mansion
Peter Pan's Flight
Mickey's Philharmagic
Space Mountain
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (got stuck, found a 100,000pt spot and maxed out my score! I was a Galactic Hero!)
Shopped at the Chapeau

Electric Umbrella
Test Track
Butterfly House/Browsing/Shopping
Club Cool
The Sea with Nemo and Friends
Turtle Talk with Crush (the best version I've seen yet!)

Watched the end of Wishes from the gate (sad ending cuz we didn't make it in time to get in...oh well).

Judging by their faces, their (what seemed to be) sincere gratitude, and the sheer amount of things we did in less than twelve hours, I would call it an extremely successful day. Today meant a lot to my brother as well because he loves Disney SO much like I do and he wanted his gf to love it as much as he does, so this was kind of like a little present to him from me as well. It was fun and flattering to have people trust me enough to let me guide them around.

In addition, it was also really amazing to have people adopt me for the day and feel like I had some family here, even if I didn't really know them except for my brother's gf. I am going to miss them and now miss my family even more! Still...what a wonderful, exhausting, and more-than-adjectives-can-describe-fun! I really felt like I was bringing some magic into their often can you say that?

Good night!

"Thank you for staying with us, and we wish you magical dreams."

Fractured Fairy Tale

Helping my brother with his assignment on fractured fairy tales. To summarize with an example you will all understand: basically every class Disney movie is a fractured fairy tale. It takes a fairy tale and manipulates it so it includes irony, parody, and satire. It tells the story but in a different way. Let's put it this way...The Little Mermaid kills herself at the end of the original fairy tale, Cinderella talks to fish or cats or whomever as her fairy godmother (depending on the culture), and Beauty is sent to the Beast by her father in his place because the father had picked one of the Beast's most beautiful roses (sound familiar?) for her after the Beast had shown him hospitality (Lumiere much?). Like I said, Disney's Classics are all fractured fairy tales, which makes this such an interesting experience!

Helping him with this assignment felt like Imagineering Story Writing to me...oh please let them call me and express interest. I have so many ideas and so much creativity I could bring to the Walt Disney Company! It is my dream job. I'll just keep praying for now.

The Internal Communications interview went fairly well. I am not 100% pleased because I was extremely nervous at the beginning but I kind of pulled myself together with more intelligent answers by the end. It also sounds like an amazing opportunity, as I would get to put my graphic design, writing, and even possibly broadcast skills to good use! We'll see. I should hear by next week or the week after. The good thing is that I am always honest in I hope they know how sincere I am and how much I want this.

Tomorrow at 2...

I have a phone interview for Disney's Internal Communications...wish me luck!

I am having an amazing time here in sunny (cold) Orlando. I love my job, my co-workers, and the little bit of free time I have.

I am truly living my dreams.

In other news...I just want to let you all know that I am going to be putting this blog on a short hiatus because I am working on building a resume website as I apply for...*drum roll please*...Disney Professional Internships!

I apologize for the inconvenience, and I hope you all are staying healthy, safe, and full of pixie dust! Please don't think I am ditching this blog...I am doing NO such thing! Just need it to be on hold while I get my priorities straight (hence why I am here at the computer instead of at a park right now!)

Talk to you all soon!

PS - For those of you new followers...WELCOME! Thank you for following my magical journey into the mean college program! Please feel free to entertain yourself while I am away with previous entries and videos. My journey has been a long, stressful, and fun-filled join me!

"That's my dad!"

"...I knew all along/Underneath...he's really brave and strong./He's on his way now/and I'm so glad./Of all the fish in the ocean...that's my dad!"

The girl's eyes welled up with tears. This scene from Finding Nemo, The Musical at Disney's Animal Kingdom had always made her emotional, but this time was different. The homesickness had begun to rear its ugly head. By about now in college she would have hopped on a bus to see her mom and dad. But here she was, 800+ miles away, all on her own.

But as she looked to her left and behind her, she saw some new friends that would help ease her pain and make her look forward to yet another wonderful day at Walt Disney World.

Pardon the fact that POTC is the video.
It was the only version of "That's My Dad" that was any good.
(Though you guys know how much I love this is pretty good too!)

Wish my parents could come visit now. I know it's only two weeks in, but that's about the right amount of time for me, as I would normally head home, even for less than 24 hours to see my family.

But the good news is that I made some new friendships today. I hope that, in time, these (and other) people will become my family down here. Today, the six of us (Ashlie, Ashton, Eric, Amanda, Sam, and Josh) created many more exciting memories.

"And here...are just a few of my favorites!'

Create your own video slideshow at

(That's a GMR quote above, btw...I can't help but go around quoting my attraction all the time! I even go around pointing out safety features around WDW. Gotta love being a CM...I know I do!)

Have a magical night!

...the smoke cleared, allowing the girl's vision to focus again.

She grinned at the people in the vehicle below her and waited to see the would be different every time.

Cheers erupted from the vehicle as the guests' faces turned to an expression of relief as they saw their tour guide reappear after being possibly dead or kidnapped by gangsters or bandits!

Just a few hours later...cheers would also meet the girl as she entered the Cast Communication Center and her trainer proclaimed..."Assessed!"

It was a very nerve-wracking day but I was proud to show off all that I had learned, and interested in finding out anything I had missed or could improve upon. Everyone there was very supportive and kind throughout the day, and especially welcoming when I had completed my day. It was like being accepted into the DCP all over again. What a wonderful feeling!

Almost every person who has worked the Great Movie Ride since its opening in 1989 has put his or her painted hand print on the famous "Wall of Hand Prints" backstage at the GMR. Many have special designs or little messages.

I had the wonderful opportunity to add my hand print to those immortalized on the wall of fame. It was truly an honor.

Picking a color was not easy, but after much debate (which probably took much longer than it was supposed to) I chose red and yellow...colors of both the Great Movie Ride costumes, and Mickey Mouse's shorts. Can you see the red with the two yellow buttons? :)

Have a magical night!

PS - I had to scratch out my last name for safety, so the odd blank spot between the fingers is where my last name is in real life :)

Burning Water

Woke up late. Check. Made a fool of myself over GMR loudspeaker? Double check. Almost burned dinner and set off smoke alarm for the second time in 10 days? Triple check.

On the good side...I did both an A show (Bandit) and a B show behind an A (Gangster) LIVE today, in front of an audience, and didn't royally screw up!!! I was soooo happy!

I also think I'm on my way to making a good friendship...we'll see how that pans out...but I'm REALLY excited :)

I also met Zoe for a split second as she went through when I was casting director. I felt SO bad because I was doing that position for the first time and I was SO into it that I just blurted "HI! Nice to meet you! ENJOY!" and waved her through. SORRY ZOE!!!

Have a magical night!

...the sheriff demanded of the bandit cowboy and the girl.

"I'm reachin'!" The girl, no longer so little, threw her hands up in the air as high as she could.

She felt the warm, dry air brush her hair off her neck as the dust flew in her face. She squinted her eyes in the high-noon sun and glanced at the tumbleweed that rolled by her feet. One foot rested on red rock, the other on the wooden porch of the local bank. She trembled as the shotgun behind her seemed to be aimed directly for her heart.

Would she be shot by the villain or the hero? What would be her fate?! Where was her heroic moment?

"Get in there!" yelled the cowboy who had plowed out of the bank's swinging doors just a minute previously.

Suddenly the air turned cool and the girl's vision went back into focus, as though she had been dreaming. Right on cue, the girl "Disney pointed" with two hands, gesturing toward the bank door she was supposed to hurry through. She grinned at the kind strawberry-blonde girl waiting in her vehicle and bounced down the stairs. It was another successful rehearsal. This was no Western Town, just a magical scene from the Great Movie Ride...her new job!
How is it even possible that every day is as great as the one previous? Today I had Training: Part II. We blocked the Bandit and Anubis scenes. (Anubis is the jackel-headed Greek god of mummification for those of you who didn't know.) I had an AMAZING time! People were telling me how stressed out they were and how there was so much information that was just sooooo hard to learn, so by the time I got to work I was freaking out. Driving was really a piece of cake and learning all the road-bed sensors and block-lights (yes, I know most of you have no idea what I'm talking about, nor will I explain them to you because they will ruin some of the magic) will come with just a bit of studying!

My trainer Erica is SO amazing! We "click" together, as she said. She explains everything slowly, clearly, and simply, so I understand it all so well. She's patient, encouraging, even-tempered, and really kind. She always asks me if I have questions, lets me go over things I am nervous about, and never makes me feel dumb. She is so well-liked by everyone at GMR. I am SO LUCKY to have her guiding me along the way! THANK YOU, ERICA!!!

Yesterday I also had a magical moment. Someone who reads this blog made it for me. :) I went to Epcot last night after a long day of doing adult-responsible things like getting my sneakers for work, doing lots of loans/financial aid business, and activating my pay card. I saw a very special Photopass worker that I have been really looking forward to meeting. I was going to say "Hi, you probably don't know me, but I'm Ashlie, and I'm so excited to meet you!" Instead, as I stood behind her and waited for her to finish with the group she was with, she turned, saw me, said "Hi" originally as if to a guest, then instant recognition passed over her face and she nearly jumped on me for the warmest hug I've received here at WDW yet. Thank you, Marina, for making my night truly special :)

Last night I wandered around a few countries and watched Illuminations again. If someone told me I could only do one thing the rest of my life, I'd probably tell them I want to watch/listen to Illuminations over and over again.

Well, time to study my script...since my spieling today was NOT UP TO PAR at ALL! Boo, me.

I hope you all are at least trying to have as much fun as I am!!! Am I seriously paid to do all of this?

Have a magical evening!

PS - The poster is courtesy of and says "Ashlie 'Chica' TG" as in "Tour Guide." Weirdly, everyone has taken to calling me "chica"...starting with Charlie, next Allison, then Gina my apartment mate, then two DCP guys who barely know me, haha! Cool!

Welcome foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion...

...the little girl held her dad's hand and squeezed as close to him as she possibly could. She couldn't help but let her eyes wander to the pictures up on the wall as they seemed to stretch up. She was baffled and terrified at the same time.

"...There's no turning back now," maliciously laughed the ghostly voice.

Then, the lights went out, someone hung from the ceiling, and screamed. Bubbles of large, salty tears started rolling down her face.

"I don't want to go!!!" she bawled.

It was too late...the door room opened and she was ushered with the rest of the guests toward the Doom Buggies. What was to await her in that terrifying mansion? She would not know for many years, as she spent the entire ride with her head buried in her father's chest as she cried and cried and cried and he held her close, protecting her from the 999 Happy Haunts.
The Haunted Mansion was my first stop on my MK adventures yesterday!

But let's back up a few steps...I have been sitting on my computer reading everyone's blogs/catching up with friends on FB & Twitter for the last hour and a half. I got up "early" (9:30am, haha!) so I would be productive on my day off! It's now 11:30am and I'm still in bed...way to be, Ash.

Basically, yesterday was yet ANOTHER magical day! I got to meet Jen, who I had basically only talked to on FB/Twitter and she was sooo nice! Finally found someone who is as OBSESSED with Disney as me. For you future prepared for not everyone to love Disney as much as you do. Or not be as impressed by the magic. Because you can see the people who believe in it and the people who see it as just a fun place to be. Sure, they like Disney a lot, but they don't eat, sleep, live, and breathe Disney like you. Jen did yesterday with me. We thought almost the same things at the same times, gave each other Disney trivia that the other did not know (though that was difficult cuz a lot of responses to one another were "I know, cool right?" hahahaha), and had SO much fun!

Ashlie and Jen on Main Street, USA

We spent the day in MK doing everything! I rode Space Mtn for the first time since the refurb! (Which, exactly the same except for some lights, some pictures, some games, and the
gates where you enter the's not much of a difference at all. I was relieved and disappointed at the same time.) But we did all the major attractions plus some minor ones too. I rode the Tea Cups for the first time in my LIFE (Jen was nice enough to check on me when she was spinning it), and Jungle Cruise for the first time in so many years that I had forgotten about it all!

Ashlie at Mickey's Philharmagic and"The 3-D Glasses Pose"

Jen - before becoming a Space Cadet, 1st Class

Not to mention we saw the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade, the Move It, Shake It,
Celebrate It parade/danced in it, and part of Dream Along with Mickey too. :) Then we watched Wishes and booked it over to Epcot for Illuminations. I have GOT to stop doing that; it's exhausting! HAHA! But's worth it.

Cinderella Castle, minutes before Wishes

I am looking forward to resort hopping...I want to swim in their pools, nap in their hammocks, and hang in their lobbies. There is DEFINITELY not enough time to do everything I want to do. Actually, there probably would be more if I stopped laying in bed until 11 on my days off...yeahhhh.

List of things to do today:

Cook myself dinner for the week (mmm, spaghetti with hamburger and Ragu sauce!)
Buy black sneakers
Work on my script
Defer financial aid loans (EW)
Do my Exit Counseling (DOUBLE EW!)

Yeah...I was gonna go to the MK to play, but I'm not sure I see that happening. We'll see....
Maybe I'll go over to the GF lobby and work on my script...that might be nice.

I'll let you guys know what I decide!!!

Until then...please gather your belongings and take small children by the hand. :)

Have a magical day!

PS - I just discovered that I can stick my camera memory stick RIGHT into my computer...which means be prepared for easy uploads and more pictures soon!

Ready when you are, C.B.!

My name is Ashlie and I will be your guide during this magical journey into the movies! It's the perfect job for me because I LOVE movies! Is everybody ready?!

Enough said?!?!

Everyone, please have as magical a night as I did on my Day 1 of Training!

PS - I really had the white writing because I couldn't fix the HTML all that well (or if I did, it would take a million I figured I'd survey the text color instead :) ). Welcome back pink!

One of the best days of my entire life...

...I am 100% serious. January 22, 2010 was truly one of the best days I can ever remember.
This was literally me yesterday...I had Steve Carrell's phrase stuck in my head for hours :)
Anyone who said Traditions was boring should have had my facilitators. Arnold and mouse ears off to you. You were fantastic: energetic, kind, warm, and sincere. THANK YOU.
I won 3 prizes, got a visit from someone extremely special, and embarked on an exciting tour! I cried at least four times...not tears streaming down my face (though close at a couple points).
Oh yeah...and did I mention...I GOT MY NAME TAG??? For the second time this trip, in just a few days, I've been speechless. I told Arnold and Jami that getting my name tag was just like how this girl felt at the end of this commercial:

They both said "awww" extremely sincerely and Jami rubbed/patted me on the back as I walked out and said "Enjoy that name tag!" I shook Arnold's hand and thanked him. never know who you will run into in the future and I know that I am extremely grateful to have had them as my leaders. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!! In the afternoon I took care of some responsible errands, including signing up for a Disney Exploration Series (DES): Leadership class, starting March 2, and signed up for the Hub!!! I felt proud of myself for not immediately running off to the parks. I called my mom to tell her about my day, and theeeeen... Jess (my roommate), Ashley (my apartment mate), Sean (Shawn? I don't know; I never asked. He was Jess's friend), and Heather (random girl we met on the bus), went to Disney's Hollywood Studios. I wanted to ride Star Tours becausseeee...I COULD BE WORKING THAT ATTRACTION (and it's one of the few in 15 trips that I've never been on, lol!)! OR...I COULD BE WORKING THE AMERICAN IDOL EXPERIENCE! OOOOOORRRR...

We have to wait and see though. I have park orientation tomorrow (SO excited), and I think I may find out which "Hollywood Studios: Icon Attractions" (that's the official name), I will be working. I found that out at Casting, one of the prettiest Disney buildings I have seen yet, during Check-in day.
While I was at Hollywood Studios (on Muppetvision 3-D to be more specific), Allison called! She wanted to meet up because her Traditions was later. I told her we were planning on going to Magic Kingdom to see Wishes, and I'd love if she could meet us there.
Well, we left DHS (Heather stayed there to meet a friend), grabbed a bus to the Contemporary, walked to MK (SO close you wouldn't believe it), and I grabbed a spot in the direct middle of Main Street between the popcorn vendors (yes, you Disney freaks like me know where that is) while they got some food at Casey's Corner (I don't like hot dogs). Wow...that's a really long run-on sentence with too many parentheses. ;)
Wishes was absolutely breathtaking and spectacular, as always.
But it gets better.
Earlier, Jess had half-jokingly suggested that we could do Illuminations too, considering they were at 9. I told her she couldn't joke about things like that to me because she would plant a seed in my head. I mentioned this incident to Allison during Wishes. She said, "I was actually thinking of that, too." My heart started fluttering quickly..."We could, you know" I encouraged her.
"We cooouulldd," she got this mischievous look on her face, like that of a five-year-old.
Wishes ended, and next thing we knew, Allison, Jess, Ashley, Sean (Shawn?), and I were dashing through Main Street stores, out the gates, and running to the boat to the TTC. One monorail ride, a people traffic jam at the Epcot gates, and a run across Future World later, I was hop-skip-and-jumping to the best possible place to see Illuminations as it began. I almost cried and my day was complete.
Or so I thought...
While Jess, Ashley, and Sean (Shawn? haha!), headed back to their apartments because they were exhausted and had work today, Allison and I headed over to Downtown Disney to shop for her mom's birthday and get dinner. I got a FREE sandwich at Earl of Sandwich because I had a coupon from the other day. Then we simply shopped, met up with one of her friends, and went home.
I cannot think of a more fantastic way that anyone could have started their program.
To summarize, amazing Traditions, coveted name tag, prizes, tours, responsibility, and 3 parks plus another Disney area in one night.
It was truly wonderful. Disney is the place where dreams come true.
Have a VERY magical day!
(I'm going to try to upload my videos soon - I promise! Just don't know when I'll have time!)

PS - Trying out white writing...what do you think?

"Just take your shoes off!"

...the girl's mother called to her children. Both had khaki or white shorts on. The rain had subsided, leaving enormous, not-so-shallow puddles making the walk back from Epcot to the Beach Club treacherous after he (typical afternoon) torrential downpour. Instead of daintily slipping around the puddles and weaving their way around them, the children obeyed their mother's wishes, took their shoes off, and then ran around, not avoiding the puddles, but splashing in every one they could find.

The water sprayed like a mini bomb as they slammed their two feet down at the same time. The warmth splashed up around their ankles, knees, and even hit their shorts, leaving little brown spots all over their shorts.

They did it because it was fun. They got wet and filthy just because it was warm and they could. And the girl, who was now, didn't care about the wandering eyes staring in her glee-filled direction. It was her time to be as childish as she wished. She was at Disney World...and she was completely happy.
"Zeus-y....I'm HOOME"
~Hades, Hercules

I MADE IT!!! Somehow I always end up forgetting how much I love it here. I was afraid of getting to MCO and saying..."No, I don't want to go home, but change is really scary for me and I'm not excited at all." That wasn't quite the case. I more likely danced off the plane and couldn't wipe the smile from my face. This is my home just as much as home in Massachusetts. When we hit Disney Property, it was like greeting my oldest, best friend. I feel amazing best really. I want to be friendly, happy, and kind all the time. What a fantastic way to feel and live. It's like splashing in the above-mentioned puddles every day (and yes, I will be physically repeating that activity, as well, when here, haha).

Today was a FANTASTIC day with my mom (who definitely helped with the happy/not-scared attitude)...and I will tell you ALLLLL about it, VLOG STYLE as soon as possible. Right now I am editing it...but I must go to sleep now...for I CHECK IN TOMORROW!!!

So the vlog is, unfortunately, going to have to wait.

Good night, my dear followers and friends. I cannot wait to meet you all.

Have magical dreams :)

T-Minus 4 Hours Til I Have to Wake Up!!!

So I'm blogging...

Just to say...follow my Twitter for updates and........

My backpack carry-on has become Mary Poppins' new carpet bag. I'll let you ponder that one :)

Good night!!!

"Wake up, Ash...Mickey is waiting for you..."

...the girl groggily heard her mother's voice as she woke up her daughter in the dark morning. Both she and the girl's dad sat on the edge of the girl's bed...

Suddenly it registered..."Mickey"...her Disney idol.

"I KNEW IT!" she squealed and pulled the covers over her head. Smiles spread across her parents faces.

The girl pulled the covers down. "I told my friends that I wasn't sure...but I KNEW IT!" she was grinning from ear to ear and yanked the covers over her head again.

"We have to go wake up your brother..."
"CAN I DO IT??!!" she girl nearly leaped out of her bed, despite the hour being the stroke of 4am.
"Sure," they laughed.

The girl dropped her legs over the side of the bed and went running out of her room. She made a quick left and dashed into her brother's room where he lay sleeping peacefully in his bed.

"CHANDLER, CHANDLER...wake up! We're not really going to the Cape! WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
My parents would do anything for us. The older I get, the more I realize that. I guess you could say that we're spoiled...really spoiled. But you won't find children more appreciative than my brother and I.

In the story above, my parents had told us that we could not afford to go to WDW that year, after I had mentioned even earlier in the year that I had always wanted to go on a surprise not know until the morning of (think I like Disney commercials or what?). In order to trick us even more, my mom printed out a fake confirmation of our hotel down at Cape Cod and left it on the counter for us to discover a few weeks prior.

That brings us to today's news (actually it happened yesterday but I was very busy...)

I feel SO much more relieved and comforted. I don't feel so scared/nervous anymore! She's going to help me get settled and take me grocery shopping for my first real time and all that!

But that's not ALL the good news!

1) She's renting a car...that means no Mears Shuttle (lost $ on it, but we consider it the collateral I don't have to pay for the taxi). Now we have access to SO many more things via car!

2) We upgraded my room at the Regal Sun Resort. We are now staying Disney view on a high floor! I AM SO EXCITED!!!

3) I can Tweet/update here with a little more detail because I feel more secure not being stalked/if I mommy can protect me :)

4) Mom is my very best friend and I'm not ashamed to say it. We are going to have an AMAZING time...PERIOD.

I would post a pic of her and I here, but she hates her pic on the Internet...

So instead, I'll just Mom is the best mom in the WHOLE WORLD!

(*Whispers* "You can also see her in the slideshow on the sidebar from our last trip having fun...but don't tell her that." ;) )

Did I mention I'm going to Florida TOMORROW!?!?!?

Have a magical day!

Saturday, January 16, 2010

Also for my memory purposes...

Monday is dedicated to...
  • Doing my nails
  • Printing out my boarding pass
  • Making sure my suitcases don't weigh too much
  • Getting my movies/stuff ready to ship
  • Sending all my phone pics to my computer and checking my contacts/activating new phone
  • Switching purses
The reason for all these is because Saturday and Sunday are reserved for stress-free fun with my friends and bf :)

ALLLMOOOSSTTT done packing AND cleaning up!

Have a magical night and please read/comment on the blog post below! That's the one worth reading/looking at!

There's been tribes and know I've had my share...

"But I've climbed the mountain and I've crossed the river and I'm almost there. I'm alllllll-mooossttt....theeeerreee!"

The girl sat in the darkened movie theater with the "Disney smile" spreading across her face. It was similar (though not quite as powerful) as the look she got on her face whenever she was in
Walt Disney World. It was the smile that was born the first day she saw Cinderella's coach. It was the smile that was about to return in approximately a month.

As she sat reading her most recent Disney email titled "You're Almost Here!" the girl marveled
how time flew by. In a mere four days she would travel to Florida to pursue her dreams.

"I'm almost there..." she thought, smiling to herself.

This came in my inbox today! I never get tired of "purple" emails!

I thought you guys might get a kick out of the following: a packing series of pics...and you can see just how "close" I consider being "close to done." Hahaha!

First explosion of clothing on my twin beds:

Needless to say...I had to seriously reconsider my packing strategy.

Now...the stuff on my bed isn't going, basically, and the stuff on the floor (aka suitcases) are. Needless to say I have to clean this all up...but this is what it looks like now:

(EDIT: Picture removed at Mom's request.)

Oh...did I mention I have to get all my bathroom stuff (aka hair, makeup, cosmetics, health supplies, etc.) in the smaller suitcase that is standing up in that pic? it is...

(EDIT: Picture removed at Mom's request.)

Maybe I should stop blogging and get back to kinda has to be done by tomorrow AM or I can't go to Boston...and going to Boston I am! (Yes, a Yoda moment, I just had.)

(EDIT: Picture removed at Mom's request.)

Have magical dreams (and sleep enough for both of us, please)!

And if you also ever wondered what kind of eater I am....the category is "picky." Note that there are basically no veggies on that list.

Soooooooo...does anyone want to volunteer to clean chicken for me? Cuz my dad was telling me about the process and it made me nauseous just to listen to it...but cooked chicken is one of my favorite foods, lol! Help!

With's about time to turn in.

Have magical dreams!

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible..."

~Walt Disney

After much consideration...I have decided AGAINST the challenge I wrote below. I want to be able to update...but I am afraid of those few, unidentified possibly creepy stalkers who could be following me. If I weren't traveling alone I would certainly follow through with this promise. But I just can't see any way to post these travels in real time and make it safe as well.

That being said...I WILL record my adventures either in video or pictures and I promise to put them up soon after I get there...50/100 followers or not. Still...I would like to get a boost in tell your friends about Princess Ash's Blog and Twitter! Thanks :)

I have a CHALLENGE for you, my dear followers!

I am looking for 100 Twitter followers (who are legitimate...not spam...that leaves 41) or 50 blog followers (also legitimate, not spam...that leaves 18). If I reach these numbers by next Monday at midnight, I will Tweet and post a picture of my journey EVERY HOUR...REAL TIME...for the full duration of my journey and first Disney adventures: from probably 7amish when I wake up until 9/10pm when I go to bed.

That's a lot of pictures!!!

What do you think, my faithful followers...are you up for the challenge?

I STILL hope you have a magical and inspirational day!

"If you don't like our service or the flight is too long...there are six exits..."

"...two in the back, two in the middle, and two in the front."

The girl started giggling uncontrollably as she clicked her metal seatbelt into place.

"...oxygen masks will appear from secret compartments above your head. When that happens, immediately stop screaming, let go of your neighbor!"

Tears started running down the girl's face as she gasped for air and tried to control her laughter in order not to interrupt the Southwest flight attendant's most entertaining safety spiel.

"...So that's it. Sit back, relax...or sit forward all twisted, the choice is really yours..."

The girl couldn't stop herself anymore and burst out laughing. The best part? She was sitting in the bulk head seat and got to congratulate the pretty flight attendant on her hilarious speech.

It sounded something like this, but her flight attendant was a woman, and the flight was to Orlando. But here's a taste of the hilarity:

Soon...I will be on a flight on my way to Orlando!!! The jet engines will roar and I will lean further forward with every mile we pick up, as if I were running on the highway and taking flight on my own! 6 Days!!!

To-Do List Check-up:
  • Fill out my On-Boarding Paperwork (Cept my W-4)
  • Purchase a Tradition's outfit
  • Get an official copy of my birth certificate OR find SS Card
  • Pack (for hours and hours since I am very indecisive)
  • Purchase a couple more pairs of shorts (! I get excited every time I think of leaving the dead of a Massachusetts' winter for eternal Floridian summer :) )
  • Make sure I have all my toiletries/makeup
  • Make sure I have all my movies/room decoration (that will fit on my bulletin board, of course)
  • Make sure I have all my electronics
  • Defrag my computer and this other thing that I can't remember what it's called to make it faster
  • Figure out the Mears Shuttle Bus schedule/cab numbers for Orlando (Gotta buy my ticket now!)
  • Call the Recruiting number and request my graduation and a couple days before off in advance
  • Set up a new email address and let everyone know
  • Send all the pictures from my old phone to my email and activate my new phone (using it, but not with all the benefits)
  • Do my Financial Aid exit counseling (So...I can't. Until after Jan 25th. Long story.)
  • Learn how to cook (HAHA, yeah right!) (I have decided that I will figure it out as I go along...and hope that friends will cook for me so I don't starve, haha!)
  • Get a haircut (I did today! It's mostly just a trim...)
  • Buy Disney-Look work earrings
  • Do my nails
  • Reserve Mears Shuttle Ticket - also ask Disney about the coupon because the one online is only valid through 12/31/09
So basically, only girly stuff and packing left! YIKES! Which is good though, because I really only have 2 days left...aka: today and tomorrow. Friday is Boston with the boy and my BU friends! (Cuz I clearly haven't mentioned that before).

Short shout out to my fellow BU students who are starting Spring 2010 semester! ENJOY! COLLEGE PASSES BY FAR TOO QUICKLY!

Have a magical (and productive) day everyone!

  • Pack (for hours and hours since I am very indecisive)
  • Purchase a couple more pairs of shorts (! I get excited every time I think of leaving the dead of a Massachusetts' winter for eternal Floridian summer :) ) (Found out after taking clothing out of my closet I definitely do NOT need any more clothing...I have to consolidate what I have as it is!)

  • Make sure I have all my movies/room decoration (that will fit on my bulletin board, of course)

  • Get a haircut
  • Buy Disney-Look work earrings
  • Do my nails
  • Reserve Mears Shuttle Ticket - also ask Disney about the coupon because the one online is only valid through 12/31/09

So, what do you guys have to do?

OH! And thank you to everyone for your advice on where to find Spacebags! I got 3 "Large" ones at Target for $12.99..."Not bad...not what I had in mind...but not bad..."

Get the reference?

Countdown Check:
3 days until Boston with my bf and BU friends
7 days (!) until Orlando

What are you counting down?

Have a magical day!

The girl took her little brother by the hand and began dragging him through the crowd. One day, he would be faster than she, but today, she was taller and older.

"To Big Thunder Mountain!" she cried, pushing pack a woman with a fanny pack and a family with a double stroller.
"HURRY" her brother screamed, as they both laughed breathlessly.

Their white sneakers made little pounding noises on the wooden bridge over the water in Frontierland. "The shortcut" - they called it.

They finally reached the entrance of the attraction with a sigh of relief...the first part of their adventure accomplished. They had to hit as many rides as possible in the short amount of time they had. It was the first time the children were alone in the Magic Kingdom together, their parents returning to the Grand Floridian for the afternoon, just a short boat ride away.

"So cool that mom and dad let us do this together for a little while," she said, smiling down at her golden-haired companion.
"Yeah," he agreed, trying to catch his breath.

A large crowd began to walk toward the entrance. They caught each other's sparkling eyes and had the same thought: they had to get in line before it was too late!

The 17-year-old girl grabbed her 10-year-old brother's hand again and began pulling him toward the wooden rails that marked the start of the "Wildest Ride in the Wilderness."

That's when "The Disney Run" was born, and little Chandler fell in love with Walt Disney World.

Hey guys,

Just a drive-by posting. Running some more DCP errands today. Gotta get a space-bag (where do I find those???), get my high heels re-heeled (walking in Boston kills them), get my "Paris" purse fixed (got it in France in WDW and the strap broke), and get a new SS card (oops...lost mine...need to prove I can work at WDW and don't want to bring my original birth certificate!).

That's all...busy busy. Nine days til check-in, eight until I leave!!!

Have a magical day!

PS - You can comment again...John fixed it again (thank you!). So please do! I love to hear your feedback! It motivates me to keep writing! <3>

Give a Day, Get a Disney Day

Have you ever wanted to make a difference in the world?
Have you ever wanted to visit Walt Disney World but haven't quite had funds?
Have you ever wanted to combine helping people, fun and...Muppets?

Yes, that's right, I just said Muppets. In fact, a couple of them stopped by to say hello and give YOU a message!

And when you're done watching, don't forget to visit Disney's Give a Day, Get a Disney Day website to learn more about how you can volunteer and spend a day in the parks for free!

The Hands on Network website is also a good resource, as they are partnering with Disney to make this goal of 1 million participants possible.

Without further ado...I present: Mr. Kermit the Frog and Mr. Fozzie Bear!

We Miss You, Too...

Tell me that doesn't make you happy. It's almost as good as the piece of mail I received two years ago with the Fab 5 holding a banner that says, "We Miss You, Too," that I proceeded to display in my room for the past two years.

Doubly excited!!! :)

I went shopping for a Traditions outfit today. I put on a bunch of cute dresses (4) but none of them quite fit the bill; they were either too sexy or too blah. Still hunting. What are you wearing?

A Little Walt Disney Magic...

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.”

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing."

“I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter.”

"Adults are only kids grown up, anyways."

“I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn't know how to get along without it.”

Hope you enjoyed that rather short commentary. Wishing you magical dreams.

Naaahhh, zwennyahh, namabeetsumama...

...tsuuu, wenyaa, oh yeah, wenyabbaaa.

"Eet is time!"

That's right, I just phonetically wrote out what the beginning of The Lion King sounds like to me...and said "It is time" like Rafiki out loud.

BECAUSE IT ALMOST IS TIME! I will be checking in TWO WEEKS from today! I will be IN Florida two weeks from yesterday!

I am celebrating/getting ready by watching a Pirates of the Caribbean marathon via my DVDs
. For those of you who do not know, I am OBSESSED with POTC. I love them. I think they must be my most favorite movies in the world. I never ever get tired of watching them over and over again. I think the acting is amazing, the stories are fantastic, the costumes are beautifully done, the CGI gets better with every film, the scores are some of the best I've ever heard, and of
course, I LOVE Orlando Bloom (what girl my generation doesn't???). Actually, that's the reason I was first attracted to my bf...he looks similar to a younger Orlando Bloom!

Speaking of my bf, he was here for a week, which was fantastic. We went out to eat a couple times, once at The 99 and once at my favorite Italian restaurant: Dino's. We watched an epic
amount of movies, went candle pin bowling (where I kicked bum!), celebrated New Year's Eve
with my family, snuggled a lot (obv), and most importantly, celebrated TWO YEARS together! Leaving him will probably be the hardest thing I have to do before heading to WDW. I get to see him for one more weekend (15th-17th) at BU (where we met at ballroom dance class (yes, awww) and lived in the same dorm for 2.5 years) before I go. My heart started to hurt when I dropped him off at the bus station today...and that wasn't even the final goodbye. He lives in PA, so we've done long distance for three summers now, but that doesn't make it any less hard. I know we are going to make it, but it's still difficult when you cannot
simply hug, cuddle, or be in the presence of the one you love.

Hm, ok, sappy rant over. (Though you may want to be prepared for future similar paragraphs in the future).

Here is also a list of things I need to do...and it's LONG:

  • Fill out my On-Boarding Paperwork
  • Figure out the Mears Shuttle Bus schedule/cab numbers for Orlando
  • Call the Recruiting number and request my graduation and a couple days before off in advance
  • Set up a new email address and let everyone know
  • Send all the pictures from my old phone to my email and activate my new phone (using it, but not with all the benefits)
  • Do my Financial Aid exit counseling
  • Learn how to cook (HAHA, yeah right!)
  • Get a haircut
  • Buy Disney-Look work earrings
  • Do my nails
  • Reserve Mears Shuttle Ticket - also ask Disney about the coupon because the one online is only valid through 12/31/09

That's all that I can think of right now, but I'm SURE the list will grow and I'll also try to remember to cross things off as I go along if I remember :)

Well, there's a nice, long update for you! Enjoy!

I leave you with a picture of Elizabeth Swann (costumed from POTC2) and Will Turner (costumed from POTC1)...oh wait...that's my bf and myself from Halloween 2008 :)

FULL COSTUME (dorky pic)

What do you think? :) They were modeled after these pictures: Elizabeth Swann / Will Turner

Have a magical night!
